I think we all needed a little inspiration on this winter Wednesday. Kristy Gammill paintings always have a way of warming me up.
Stay inspired (and inside….seriously it’s really cold out).
Hope everyone had a magical New Years Eve and welcomed 2013 surrounded by friends and family. One of my new year’s resolutions is to be a healthier person (mentally, physically, and emotionally.) So I got up this morning and decided to hit the ground running and head over to the gym. Well, apparently my gym didn’t get the memo that just about everyone makes a health related goal for the new year…. and they were closed. Since I was already up I meandered over to grab a cup of coffee before returning to my apartment, parking myself on the couch, and watching a TV marathon of some sort (preferably Dance Moms or Duck Dynasty.)
The gal who took my order complemented me on my hoodie (I had on my lululemon Scuba Hoodie). She told me that she also worked at lululemon and knew that it was a new product *yadda yadda yadda girl talk yadda yadda yadda*. Just after taking my order and discussing how I’d be broke if I worked at lulu (due to the employe discount), she told me one of the most amazing things I’ve heard this year (haha!). The stretch zipper pull doubles as an emergency hair tie!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the gym without a hair tie (or mine breaks, or I give it to someone else who needs it more) so this really was a game changer.
Tuesday was already my favorite day of the work week (New Girl, Dance Moms, Pretty Little Liars...need I say more?) but for the rest of October Tuesdays will only get better. Taylor Swift will be releasing a single off of her upcoming album every Tuesday until the full album release on October 22nd (also a Tuesday). So get your dancing pants on and enjoy some of her sweet new songs. I’m currently playing Red on repeat.
P.S. check out some of her album artwork. I’m loving the bold colors & font!
Happy Monday! I know Mondays are rough, but I hope this picture lifts your spirits a bit. My amazing sister just moved to NYC and I’ve had so much exploring the city with her. Last night we went out for a pre-Emmy margarita and took a stroll along the east river. We were able to catch a breathtaking sunset and a seaplane landing (it was an unusually eventful walk). This ombré sky was the perfect end to an amazing weekend.
I’m so sad that summer has come to an end. I was just getting into the swing of things! The only good thing about the end of summer is the start of autumn (my favorite season). Who doesn’t like apple picking, bonfires, hay-rides, cider, sweaters, boots, and football games? So say goodbye to the beach chairs and hello to pumpkin spice lattes!

Just because I’m not in school (per say) doesn’t mean I don’t do back to school shopping! Here are few of my must-have items for this fall!
This past Saturday I had the privilege of attending Blog Bash NYC hosted by Rebecca of A Daily Something and Michelle Edgemont. I had so much fun chatting with some of my favorite bloggers and chowing down on some amazing food (and drinks). I even ran into Melissa from The Faux Martha (one of my all time favorite blogs)! All I can say is Rebecca and Michelle sure know how to throw a party. I had such a blast and am excited to share a few photos with you.
Blog Bash NYC!
A basket of Doodads and Noodles.
Drinks by The Stand NY.
The hostess with the mostess!
Beautiful décor and music.
I LOVE crafts. I could spend hours perusing Pinterest looking for a good craft project. But one of my biggest pet peeves is buying the supplies. Let’s be real I don’t have a craft closet in my teeny tiny Manhattan apartment. I’m lucky to have a closet at all! Having extra supplies lying around just isn’t something I want. That’s why I’m so thankful for my new find: For the Makers! It’s like Birchbox for crafters. I’ll let the experts do the explaining:
“For the Makers is a space for sharing ideas, skills and inspiration. Simply sign up and every month you’ll receive supplies for four projects. For $29 we source the best materials and deliver them to your door, letting you skip straight to the fun part. Shipping is always free. We’ll walk you through each project with a fun how-to on our website but also encourage you to explore the creative potential in each package. Once you make something, share it with friends and fellow Makers.”
What’s not to like about that! I just received my first box (August) in the mail and my crafts are:
I’ve been dreaming (literally) about making a piñata notebook. I love piñatas (and notebooks) so this just seemed like the prefect way to put them together! I was also totally inspired by Chanel Dror’s post “Want to Get Hit On“ via CamilleStyles.com. (check it out!)
I started by cutting the card stock into strips (the length of my notebook and about 2 inches thick). I cut vertically up the strips of paper to create a fringe effect (I cut about 3/4 the way up). Once all of the strips were ready, I laid them out in the order I wanted them to appear on the notebook and started gluing them to the cover. NOTE start gluing from the bottom of the notebook and build up. It’s much easier to layer them on top of one-another than try to put them underneath one-another. Lastly, try to keep all fringe on top of the cover. This will eliminate the chance of snagging a fringe strip! Once you’ve finish the front, flip your notebook over and repeat the same patter on the back.
If you think this notebook is ‘too much’ for an everyday notebook, try using it as the guest book at a party!
Everyone loves a party, but not everyone loves planning one. Here are a few fun items that can make any get-together feel a little more festive (no real occasion required).
ps. I ordered the above cookies from Whimsy & Spice and am literally
drooling waiting by the door for them to come.
