Duly Noted

Just because I’m not in school (per say) doesn’t mean I don’t do back to school shopping! Here are few of my must-have items for this fall!

  1. NOTEBOOK: I love this notebook from Brown Paper Designs.
  2. PENCIL CASE: This large flat pouch is from Stephanie Johnson. It’s perfect for pencils, pens, makeup etc! $38
  3. BAG: Okay…. a girl can dream. I’m not even going to put the price of that Chloé bag. I honestly can’t afford to even look at it.
  4. TEE: I’m OBSESSED with this mint green tee from Old Navy. I already know it’s going to be my go-to fall tee. $12
  5. WASHI TAPE: This stuff makes everything look better. I put it on everything from notebooks to envelopes. PrettyTape has just about every color, print, and pattern under the sun! $4 a roll.

Blog Bash NYC

This past Saturday I had the privilege of attending Blog Bash NYC hosted by Rebecca of A Daily Something and Michelle Edgemont. I had so much fun chatting with some of my favorite bloggers and chowing down on some amazing food (and drinks). I even ran into Melissa from The Faux Martha (one of my all time favorite blogs)! All I can say is Rebecca and Michelle sure know how to throw a party. I had such a blast and am excited to share a few photos with you.

Blog Bash NYC!

A basket of Doodads and Noodles.

Drinks by The Stand NY.

The hostess with the mostess!

Beautiful décor and music.

For the Makers

I LOVE crafts. I could spend hours perusing Pinterest looking for a good craft project. But one of my biggest pet peeves is buying the supplies.  Let’s be real I don’t have a craft closet in my teeny tiny Manhattan apartment. I’m lucky to have a closet at all! Having extra supplies lying around  just isn’t something I want. That’s why I’m so thankful for my new find: For the Makers! It’s like Birchbox for crafters. I’ll let the experts do the explaining:

“For the Makers is a space for sharing ideas, skills and inspiration. Simply sign up and every month you’ll receive supplies for four projects. For $29 we source the best materials and deliver them to your door, letting you skip straight to the fun part. Shipping is always free. We’ll walk you through each project with a fun how-to on our website but also encourage you to explore the creative potential in each package. Once you make something, share it with friends and fellow Makers.”

What’s not to like about that! I just received my first box (August) in the mail and my crafts are:

  • Marshall Street Raffia Belt
  • Navy Yard Studded Bangle
  • Vinegar Hill Hair Elastic
  • Plymouth Brass Bar Necklace

Can’t wait to share how everything turns out! Be sure to check out their website as well as their Facebook & Twitter accounts!

DIY: Piñata Notebook

I’ve been dreaming (literally) about making a piñata notebook. I love piñatas (and notebooks) so this just seemed like the prefect way to put them together! I was also totally inspired by Chanel Dror’s post “Want to Get Hit On via CamilleStyles.com. (check it out!)

You’ll need:

  • A Notebook (I used a composition notebook because it had a sturdy cover that could support hot glue)
  • Colorful paper (I used card stock paper and chose three solid colors and one metallic)
  • Hot Glue Gun (and glue!)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

I started by cutting the card stock into strips (the length of my notebook and about 2 inches thick). I cut vertically up the strips of paper to create a fringe effect  (I cut about 3/4  the way up). Once all of the strips were ready, I laid them out in the order I wanted them to appear on the notebook and started gluing them to the cover. NOTE start gluing from the bottom of the notebook and build up. It’s much easier to layer them on top of one-another than try to put them underneath one-another. Lastly, try to keep all fringe on top of the cover. This will eliminate the chance of snagging a fringe strip! Once you’ve finish the front, flip your notebook over and repeat the same patter on the back.

If you think this notebook is ‘too much’ for an everyday notebook, try using it as the guest book at a party!
